Colipa, the European Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association welcomes the adoption of the new chemicals legislation (REACH) in first reading by a broad majority of the European Parliament. Colipa would like to share the following initial reactions to yesterdays vote. Colipa is pleased to note that the vote clarifies the inclusion of cosmetic uses of chemicals in the scope of REACH whilst acknowledging the high level of protection to public health already ensured by the Cosmetics Directive (Dir. 76/768/EEC), which comprehensively provides for the composition, labelling and packaging of cosmetic products.
