Statement Chemicals Breast Cancer

Report on chemicals and breast cancer.

Brussels 2 April 2008 - The European cosmetics industry is aware of a report issued today by Prof. Kortenkamp which says "Although it is clear that many factors play a role in breast cancer, a contribution of environmental chemicals cannot be dismissed," and "it would be prudent to reduce exposures to chemicals that can mimic oestrogen." Cosmetic ingredients are referred to in the report and the industry is aware this reference may give rise to concerns amongst consumers.
