Under Article 7.3 of the Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC) Member States may require - for purposes of prompt and appropriate medical treatment in the event of difficulties - information on substances used in cosmetic products.
The European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists (EAPCCT) and Colipa have developed the system of frame formulations to be used for the notifications required under Article 7.3 of the Cosmetics Directive.
The frame formulations detail the types of ingredients and their maximum concentrations for most cosmetic products on the European market. he frame formulations booklet contains a preamble where the system is explained, a flowchart, three types of declaration forms, an update form and approximately 120 frame formulations.
The booklet was published in January 2000.
