Formaldehyde consortium set up by Colipa
A consortium has been set up for the preparation of the safety dossier on Formaldehyde for submission to the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS).A complete safety dossier on the uses of Formaldehyde in cosmetic products was requested by the European Commission in 2008. A considerable amount of preparatory work for the dossier has already been conducted by Colipa.
Through this safety dossier the interested parties will defend the free Formaldehyde present in cosmetic products coming from a certain class of preservatives, also known as the “Formaldehyde releasers”. The use of Formaldehyde in nail hardening products will be defended by interested nail hardener manufacturers.
Ingredient defence consortia are self-funded and open to all interested stakeholders within and beyond Colipa membership.
Colipa technical ingredient consortium on nano-silica – call for participation
Colipa has set-up a technical ingredient consortium on nano-silica. The aim of this consortium is to prepare a safety dossier related to the use of nano-silica in cosmetic products. Submission of this dossier aims at ensuring the continued use of nano-silica as a cosmetic ingredient under cosmetics legislation against the background of the current nano-debate. In addition, the dossier will enable consortium members to fulfil their obligations under the future notification requirements of the new Cosmetics Regulation. The consortium is open to Colipa members as well as non-members including suppliers. Consortium members will have to accept to contribute a share of the costs incurred by the consortium and to accept the conditions stipulated in the consortium contract, which will be developed and agreed by the consortium members.
For further information and/or to express interest in participation, please contact Colipa via our contact form.
